The Centre for Family Preservation & Wellness also provides telephone counseling as a service to our clients. Many times it can be difficult or unfeasible to meet face-to-face. Phone counseling gives you the privacy you desire at an affordable price. It is no longer necessary for people who don’t have access to transportation or who may be simply too busy to travel to their appointment, to be restricted in their health care choices.
If you’re calling from Canada, you can use our toll-free number for personal telephone counseling and we pay for the phone call itself, while you simply pay for the session. If you’re calling outside of Canada, you must incur the long-distance charges, but if you have access to the Internet, then these charges can be avoided by using VOIP services such as Skyp.
Would you like a face-to-face counseling session but are unable to visit the office? Perhaps the weather is bad and you don’t want to drive in. Maybe you couldn’t secure a babysitter to watch the kids? Or perhaps your schedule is full and you can’t afford the travel time between appointments. If you have a webcam and a microphone, then online video counseling will give you the full audio-video experience that is close to a face-to-face session.
Chat counseling offers you, from the privacy of your own home or office, real time counseling but with the comfort of anonymity (should you desire it). It is also suitable for those who desire counseling but are unable to do so at work or at home because there are too many people around. While this medium does take more time due to the very nature of it (typing), this may be suitable for those who like to take their time to gather their thoughts without wanting to feel like they’re being rushed. It may also be beneficial for those individuals who live in rural areas and perhaps find it difficult to make it to a face-to-face session.
Chat counseling may be done through a variety of freely downloadable services, such as MSN Messenger, Yahoo Messenger, and Skype.
